Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

Regression Therapy is approaching the root of our problems by recalling, reliving and processing situations that were traumatic in our life and interfere with our ability to function well in the present. By discovering, reliving and understanding those causes we may find deep and lasting relief.

Regression Therapy does not limit itself to talk therapy. Altered states of consciousness are typical for recalling and reliving. Experiences that surface do not always belong to the current life.

Regression therapy is the practice of recalling and reliving memories from the past and processing them for therapeutic effect. Those memories may refer to a time in childhood, whilst in the womb, in a past life or in the period between lives. Although the term ‘past life regression therapy’ may imply an invitation to direct attention to the past, it is invariably experienced quite differently to simply remembering a childhood event. All personal experiences are carried around within our energy system and the unresolved highly charged experiences can influence thoughts and feelings. In that respect when undergoing regression therapy, it is an experience which is very much in the ‘present’, as we explore, find the root and seek to resolve the effects of those unresolved experiences that we carry with us.

No one has to believe in the existence of a past life to be able to work with it. Regression therapists are prepared and equipped to deal with past life recall. They found out that such phenomena occur very often. Conventional psychotherapists are not willing to overcome the current materialist paradigm, and so may unjustifiably label a patient in an ‘exceptional’ category.

Not necessarily. Many scientists are currently challenging the premises of the Cartesian paradigm. A cumulative body of evidence, findings and publications by prominent and qualified scientists contradicts the mainstream scientific axioms. We expect this trend will bring a shift in perspective.

When conventional therapies do not work. When medication only suppresses the symptoms of a persistent psychological, psychosomatic or chronic physical problem. When people seem ready to face deeper aspects of their personality and come to grips with them.

Migraines & Headaches, Weight problems, Eating disorders, PTSD, Asthma, Obsessions, DID (MPD), Anxiety and Stress. Above all finding meaning & finding purpose in life. Also, intense phobias, relationship problems, sexual problems, identity problems, addictions, nightmares, recurrent dreams, night terrors, insomnia, attention deficit disorder, etc.

There are a lot of researchers that suggest a possible link to ancient healing done in Egypt or the healing Temples of Asklepios in Greece. Sleep temples were hospitals of sorts, healing a variety of ailments, perhaps many of them psychological in nature. The treatment involved chanting, placing the patient into a trancelike or hypnotic state, and analyzing their dreams in order to determine treatment. The Greek treatment was referred to as incubation. Meditation, fasting, baths and sacrifices to the patron deity or other spirits were often involved as well. This can be seen as early psychotherapy. They also suggest that ceremonies in the Mysteries of Eleusis were related to such experiences that resemble regression techniques.

When you find a therapist, feel free to discuss this question with her/him. It is advised to work with therapists who are experienced, well trained and competent. You will share your inner world with a therapist, and you will need them to behave in a professional manner so please check where they got their training, who was their teachers etc.

Past traumas can register within our energy system at the mental, emotional and physical level. Releasing any charge at the physical level can be an important part of making any desired change become more permanent. Regression therapists can focus on the charge that is stored in the body with an intention of helping that person to release this and thus bring balance and healing. Gestalt and psychodrama are often a part of the body therapy approach for releasing charges at the physical level.

Do not drink too much alcohol or coffee before and after a session. Do not arrange demanding or strenuous activities afterwards. Allow yourself some time to reflect and digest your experiences. Note down dreams you have before a session. Get a therapy notebook and write down short notes after session/s about the changes you observe in yourself, the after effects you feel. Sharing these with your therapist can help the healthy advance of the therapy process.

Each session is unique and is led by the client. A session generally takes between one to three hours depending on the techniques the therapist uses and on the presenting complaint of the client.

In the first session, the therapist often sets aside 15-20 minutes for the intake, asking the client about the problems needed to be worked on or a brief background story. Intake helps to determine the issues to be addressed in the session or in a sequence of sessions if that is the case.

Client either sits or lies down comfortably while the therapist enables him/her to go into an altered state of awareness and together they begin to explore the root experience in order to resolve the problem. A trance is an altered state of awareness. This occurs naturally when the focus is taken away from the immediate surroundings and directed inwards. In regression therapy the focus is often aimed at the presenting problem.

EARTh does not have any control over the prices that therapists charge for their sessions and does not provide any standards for how therapists should charge for their services. This depends on the continent, the country, the standards of living, market competition and many other parameters.
Make sure to make a proper agreement with your therapist about the charges of the therapeutic sesssions before you start.

First of all, no need to panic. It is very natural that your child remembers his or her past life. We are aware that it is common for children to still carry the memory of their past lives. The most important thing to do is really to listen to what your child has to say. Making negative, discouraging comments is only likely to make it worse for your child. You should be free from any judgement while listening to him/her. There are a number of EARTh recognized regression therapists who work with children. Our advice would be to choose one of these therapists and seek their help. If your child remembers a traumatic past life, it is very important to work with this past life and heal the memory.

Regression Therapy may incorporate a variety of approaches such as focusing techniques, breath-work, hypnosis, Gestalt, psycho-drama, visualizations, body therapy, spirit release and energy healing. Regression therapy is being increasingly recognized as a powerful and relatively brief alternative to psychotherapy. It is a transpersonal therapy designed to enable permanent change.

Past-life therapy is a part of regression therapy. When regression therapists regress a client to the initial trauma they are not limited by current psychotherapeutic assumptions, such as the “childhood trauma”.  The trauma may actually originate in a former incarnation.

Past-life regression therapy is a form of self-exploration for a therapeutic outcome. If you are sincerely willing to explore the roots of your problems and to take responsibility in cooperation with the therapist, then it may well be.

For a nice movie projecting the history of Regression Therapy please view our movie “What is Regression Therapy?” HERE. It is the third movie in the row. A variety of life issues may be helped, yet always discuss with your chosen therapist. For example, this list demonstrates only a few issues of people that:

* have experienced emotional, physical, mental trauma in their life;

* have phobias;

* experience relationship problems;

* have difficulty in expressing themselves,

* have PTSD;

* feel blockages in their life –may it be about work, relations, intimacy

* lack self-confidence and feel insufficient

* have repeating dreams and nightmares

* have physical symptoms and chronic disorders which cannot be treated by other means

* have panic attacks

* are diagnosed OCD

* have eating disorders, obesity

* are diagnosed mildly depressed

* have anger issues

This varies from person to person. With only one session, an issue can sometimes be completely cleared. However, some issues might require 3-4 sessions especially if complex.

During the initial meeting with your therapist, you can both identify the issues to work on and determine how many sessions you will need. The partnership with your therapist and a sincere intention will always help the process. Indeed, this can be an important part of your therapy. While fear is a natural response to self-exploration, your therapist can help you to work through that. Whatever has happened cannot be changed, yet the repercussions from a past trauma can be changed by going into it to release the mental, emotional and physical aspects of any charge that was generated then. Once the energetic charge has been identified then there are further techniques that can help to dissolve them so that they no longer influence thoughts and feelings.
